 MAVOKO WATER SUPPLY PROJECT
With the ever increasing water demand within Mavoko Subcounty, the Mavoko water supply project funded by the Belfis bank of Belgium through the government of Kenya will supply 12 Million litres of water per day to Athiriver town and its environs and 5 million litres to Syokimau and its environs.The project components include a new modernized water treatment plant & storage tanks in Athiriver, Rehabilitation of Kasuitu and KMC dams , Ground & Elevated water tanks in Syokimau.

 


 SEWERAGE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

In our efforts to increase sewerage coverage from 20% to 40% we are implementing various projects. The Athiriver slums sewer line upgarding project has laid over 10 KM of lines at Embakasi, Ngei 11, KMC & Njoguini areas, Lukenya Trunk sewer line project will open up access to services to Daystar University & The larger Lukenya and Kinanie areas, the National Housing (NHC) sewer project will serve over 7,000 units at Stoni Athi housing.The projects are financed by TANATHI WWDA and the State department of housing.

 

   COVID-19 INTERVENTIONS

To increase access to clean water during this covid-19 pandemic time we have installed and provided hand washing facilities as well as soap to the most vulnerable especially market places and the informal settlements. We are also supplying FREE water to ALL informal settlements through our water bowsers on a daily basis. We have received support from the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (Athiriver chapter), TANATHI, Machakos County government, JICA, WASPA, ASPAC and many other well wishers to accomplish this.ATHI WWDA has also drilled 5 boreholes whose water will be supplied for FREE.We care for the society we serve.

  NRW REDUCTION

To reduce on loses due to un-accounted for water we have implemented various strategies in partnership and support of the JICA expert team.This includes introduction of smart meters, introduction of mobile meter reading, Incorporation of GIS, Use of listening sticks, mass meter testing & replacement, creation of DMAs among others.We have also been picked as a pilot WSP by the JICA expert team for the JICA Membrane technology pilot project.
